System Engineer / Work Stream Leader – Signaling

The Copenhagen Metro transports 10 million passengers monthly and plays a vital role in the city's daily life. We are seeking a System Engineer with proven signaling experience, preferably in driverless metro systems, to lead key design, implementation, and system acceptance activities as Signaling Work Stream Leader.
About the project
We’re in the early phase of the 3xR project (Rolling Stock, Re-signaling, Reinvestment), a major brownfield initiative to upgrade the signaling systems and rolling stock. The goal is to improve reliability, efficiency, and future readiness, while ensuring seamless migration with minimal disruption to our 24/7 driverless metro operations.
Your profile
We’re looking for a motivated engineer with leadership skills and a background in signaling architecture, network infrastructure, and railway communication systems.
Key responsibilities
- Manage signaling work packages and schedules
- Define design concepts and integrate communication systems (CBTC, IT, networks)
- Review specs, interfaces, and system architectures
- Coordinate with suppliers and consultants during procurement, design, and implementation
- Support migration strategies, testing (FAT, SAT), and validation
- Ensure integration with wider infrastructure (SCADA, control centers, etc.)
- Contribute to RAMS documentation and cybersecurity planning
- Ensure compliance with EU and Danish rail safety standards
Technical skills
- Solid knowledge of radio-based signaling systems, preferably in driverless metros
- Experience with complex system integration, train-track communication
- IP networking, fiber optics, routers/switches, protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP, VLAN)
- Familiarity with tools like DOORS and standards like EN 50126, EN 50129, EN 50159, IEC 62443
Languages
- Fluent English (required); Danish is a plus or willingness to learn

The Company
Metroselskabet leads large-scale transport projects in Greater Copenhagen. You'll join the Transportation Systems Unit, a team of 25 specialists ensuring delivery and compliance of systems throughout all project phases – from analysis and design to testing and operation.
